This year our Batizado e Troca de Cordas will coincide with the local Puertorican Day Parade and celebration. The schedule is as follows:

Friday evening workshops:

Stevens College, Mellor Auditorium, Main Building, 2nd floor:

Workshop I – 5:00 to 6:30pm with Mestre Loka

Capoeira Kids Welcome (Testing is ongoing, students may not be aware they are being tested so it is in the best interest of the student to take this workshop)

*Workshop II - 6:45 to 8:00pm Estagiario Claudio

Capoeira *Kids are free to leave or stay and watch.

*Street Roda - 8:30 to 9:30 at Binn’s Park

Saturday Batizado Schedule:

Stevens College, Mellor Auditorium, Main Building, 2nd floor:

10:00 Arrive Stretch warm up

10:30 Welcome Roda

11:00 Batizado Ceremony

12:00 Closing Roda

12:30 Walk an mass across street to Puerto Rican Day parade start point at Reservoir Park. (Which is right across from Stevens) Take our position in parade line up.

1:00 Parade starts (We need a volunteer to take atabaque and first aid kit to Binns Park)

2:00 or so Parade ends in Binns Park. Rest and Refreshments

3:00 Street Roda for the strong and the brave

*4:00 Leave for dinner on the farm at Equestrian Estates, 221 Shultz Road, Willow Street, PA.

*We will need some volunteers to have a few vehicles downtown for those who do not want to walk back to Steven’s college.

Event Pricing: $40

Includes event t-shirt, two workshops and two street rodas. Additional workshops may be available at no cost. All out-of-town capoeiristas planning to spend the night must bring all personal items needed. (ie. sleeping bags, pillows, toiletries, etc.) You may also bring a tent… for those who love the outdoors!

Money for the event along with the shirt size must be in by September 1st. No extra shirts will be ordered. Any extra shirts left will be on a first come, first serve basis. After the 1st, the price for the event will be $55.
